Academic Biography
Mariam is a Lecturer in Data Analytics in the School of Computing and Digital Technology at Birmingham City University, UK. She is also a researcher in the field of Data Mining/Data Analytics/Data Science. She obtained a PhD degree in Computing Science from the School of Computing Science and Digital Media (IDEAS Research Institute) of Robert Gordon University (RGU), United Kingdom. Her research applied data mining techniques to Twitter data to detect and track topics/events from real life occurrences for information and decision making. She received her First degree from University of Portsmouth, England with a first class Honours. She has published 11 papers as at March 2022. Mariam has attended and presented research works at seminars, Conferences and workshops within and outside of the United Kingdom. She also reviews academic papers for International Conferences and Journal Articles. Mariam is a member of Data Mining Group and Data Analytics & Artificial Intelligence Research Group, BCU. She was a member of Data Science and Information Retrieval/Case-based Reasoning Group, RGU. Research interest
Mariam was born in Lagos, the commercial capital of the most populous country in Africa, Nigeria. She started her PhD at the School of Computing, University of Portsmouth (UoP) in October 2011 and later transferred to the Robert Gordon University in October 2013. While in UoP she worked as a student mentor at University of Portsmouth where she mentored students in the city colleges and high schools. Mariam is married to Adedoyin Olowe; a Lawyer and they are blessed with a son and a daughter. |
